Nollywood Veteran and politician, Desmond Elliot has called for the prohibition of the influx of foreign movies into Nigeria to enable the growth of the Nigerian Movie Industry.
The 45-year-old politician representing Surulere constituency at the Lagos State house of the assembly said this in an interview with HIPTV. According to him the current situation of the country’s Movie Industry has not gotten to where it ought to be yet.
He enjoined the Federal Government to make it difficult for foreign content to come into the country so that local content from Nigeria can be more recognized and embarrassed by its own adding that this could take Nollywood to a greater level.
This did not sit well with a lot of Nigerians. In reaction to his suggestion, they have taken to social media voice out their not so polite thoughts of the suggestion made by the politician.
