Nollywood Actor Femi Branch and Jagun of Ede land, has come out to clear the air about the viral picture on Social media, that shows the new bride of the Ooni Of Ife, Prophetess Naomi Oluwaseyi walking through blood to enter the palace as part of the marriage rites.
An act many have reacted negatively to, considering the fact that she is not just a Christian but a Prophetess.
Femi Branch came out to clear the air on the viral picture as the Jagun Asa of Ede land ( Defender of Culture) with a video and caption on Instagram that reads,
” I have been seeing the mischievous posts using the picture of our new Olori of the Source” stepping on a red substance to enter the Palace. This is not blood but “osun” a red powdery substance mixed with water and rubbed on d feet of a new bride or mixed with water and poured on the ground for her to step on into her new matrimonial home. It is a blessing for the new bride so she can be fruitful in her new marriage and not some heathenic ritualistic practice. Yoruba culture is rich, deep and beautiful and we should not be quick to criticise things we have no knowledge of. I thank my sister @shakima06 for her painstaking research on this matter. Pls let us respect the office of the Ooni and the culture of the Yoruba race. Things are not always what they seem. God bless you all and God bless our father Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ooni Adimula Ife, the Arole Oodua. @ooniadimulaife @oonirisa @adesola_ogunwusi @4larogunwusi @officiallindaikeji @instablog9ja @bellanaijaonline @bbcnewsyoruba #yoruba #ooni #ooniofife #tradition #yorubaland #jagunasaofedeland #omooodua #omoyoruba #culture #nigeria #naija #africa #ooniadimula #oonirisa #aroleoodua #regrann
