The Prestigious Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA) was founded by Peace Anyiam Osigwe, is an Award that celebrates African talents in Filmmaking.
This year’s edition which took place last Night in Kigali Rwanda is it’s 14th edition, as It’s maiden edition was in 2005, in the oil city of Bayelsa State Nigeria.
Through the years,no Actor have been able to win the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role twice, even though some like Richard Mofe Damijo has gotten two nominations in same category after winning it once.
His first win was in 2005 for his superb character interpretation in ‘The Mayors’, and last night, he became the first Actor to double his award in the same category, as he once again clinched the award for Best Actor in a Leading role for his act as Detective Kilanko in ‘Cross roads’.
Another two time winner of the prestigious award is Sensational Joke Silver, first was in 2006 Best Actress in a Leading role for the movie ‘Widows Cot’, and last night she won Best Actress in Supporting role for the film Potato Potahto.
Also last night were first time nominees and winners Gideon Okeke and Dakore Egbuson, Best Actor in Supporting role in ‘Cross roads’ and Best Actress in a Leading role in ‘Isoken’ respectively.
