Nollywood Veteran actor, Olakayode Odumosu, popularly known as Pa Kasumu has, on Sunday, passed on just 15 days to his birthday. The Nollywood industry mourns the painful exit of the once on-screen sensation.
Pa Kasumu, an alias he attained from one of his roles in Yoruba movies of his time, went off screen when he fell ill ten years ago. According to the reports, the actor suffered partial stroke and had been battling the illness since then.
In 2017, he made a trip to India for treatment but by the time he came back, he had gotten worse. Though he was meant to go back two months after, Pa Kasumu never made it back due to a sudden loss of his passport.
It was when he showed up at Foluke Daramola’s event where he was practically brought in, supported by two of his relatives. His case had worsened. The video went viral and people became concerned.
By 2018, according to Punch.ng, Pa Kasumu mentioned that his illness was spiritual and the only help he needed was prayers.
“For now, I don’t need any help. All I need is prayer. All I can say about my sickness is that it is spiritual. That’s why I said it requires prayer. I’m currently at a church camp for its annual congress. God should take care of me. I will stay at the camp till the congress ends.”
Actress, Foluke Daramola took to her Instagram page to announce his death on Sunday March 1st 2020.
As Nollywood mourns Pa Kasumu, it is reminded of the ailing actors like Victor Olaotan, Ernest Asuzu who are currently suffering grave illnesses and are seeking for help.
A few days before his death, he was recorded appreciating those who have been of support to him in one way or the other. He was surrounded by family and friends and managed a few moments of joy.
