It is not only Nollywood that has issues after all, even Hollywood is selling us overatted products in the cinema. Here is a review of Aquaman

The Synopsis
From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime–one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be… a king (RottenTomattoes)

The movie, Aquaman, is quite overrated. You don’t believe? Well, listen to the dialogues (especially Jason’s lines). What is a good movie without a well-crafted script (and rendition of the lines?) The protagonist’s sense of humour is okay, not great (in other words, there’s room for improvement). The action scenes and overelaborate screenplay are, however, the movie’s strengths. And it’s a good thing that the director tries to make it seem like the water world is the centre of the movie (when it is actually Jason). Its storyline is cheesy ( conventional, I must add). There are also times when you get bored because you know what will happen next. Nothing bores one more than a predictable plot, don’t you think?

Compared to Spiderman, Aquaman is Jet Li to Jackie Chan (the difference is clear). The appearance of female warriors in some of the action scenes is applaudable though. Eventually, the movie can be thrilling to those superheroes fanatics, and quite entertaining to movie critics. You won’t be missing out on anything big, really, if you don’t see it.
