Weekend Movie Suggestions: Here Are Five Movies You Should Definitely Check Out This Weekend

If you are like me and you work weekdays, then weekends are the best days to have fun. And where better to have fun than at the cinemas(they are my happy place). So, in case you are considering checking out some movies at the cinemas this week, then you should check these movies. I have included the movie synopsis and for an added bonus, you can watch the trailer and make up your mind even before you leave home.

EVERYTHING BUT A MAN

Directed by: Nnegest Likké
Cast: Camille Winbush, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Monica Calhoun
Synopsis: A 30-something single career woman becomes romantically involved with a handsome blue-collar immigrant who she tries to groom into her perfect upper-classman. Comedic and dramatic conflict ensues.

THE HERBERT MACAULAY AFFAIR

Directed by: Imoh Umoren
Cast: Duke Elvis, Martha Orhiere, Saidi Balogun, William Benson
Synopsis: The Herbert Macaulay Affair is a story that follows Young Herbert who returns from England and begins the opposition to the colonial government.
In 1898, Herbert is done with his scholarship training and becomes the first Engineer and Surveyor in the colony. Upon his return he is employed by the Colonial Government in Lagos He faces a lot of discrimination and watches it being done to fellow Lagosians. Annoyed by the constant marginalization, Herbert quits his job with the colonial government and starts a long opposition to them.

ELEVATOR BABY

Synopsis: Elevator Baby’ tells the story of Dare (Timini Egbuson), a privileged young man with a fiery temper, who got stuck in a faulty elevator with a semi-literate pregnant woman in labor (Toyin Abraham). Dare is left with no choice but to try and save both mother and child. This experience brings him face to face with his inner demons.

FARMING

Synopsis: A young Nigerian boy, ‘farmed out’ by his parents to a white British family in the hope of a better future. Instead, he becomes the feared leader of a white skinhead gang.
